Pablo Interruptus.

Can't leave children alone for a second.

NO BURKS WIN WAS RIGHT THERE!

16223: Plutopass - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 12:56 AM

Sick flip, Burk.

16224: LordCortist - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 12:59 AM

I KNEW HE WOULD HE DO IT SO QUICKLY WITHOUT TELLING HER AS OUTSMART HER!!!

16225: someone - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 1:16 AM

Burk still wins. He touched her with his burkly aura.

16226: Jack - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 1:17 AM

Well, it was a friendly sparring match but someone decided to start a forest fire. Didn't even help.

16227: Silver - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 2:07 AM

Pablo, just don't take anymore tea breaks. Otherwise, before you know it Burk loses his pants and there's a forest fire.

16228: Bisected - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 6:34 AM

Pablo's maaaaaad!

16229: Tor Magnus - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 7:25 AM

It's all fun and fights until Pablo discovers the forest is on fire.

16230: TheMegax - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 9:36 AM

Pablo to the rescue!

16231: Storm - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 9:56 AM

Whelp, looks like Pablo's gotten in Piper's line-of-fire in that last panel! What'll happen?!

WARNING: Possible spoilers.
WARNING: Possible rampant speculation that borders on the very edges of madness.

Prediction:
1. She can't abort the attack.
2. Burk rescues Pablo by taking the hit.
3. Piper wins the letter of the duel by scoring the first solid hit, but gains new-found respect for Burk after seeing that he could shrug off the magic attacks anyway.

Dunno about that last part. Burk's dodged most of the magical attacks that've come at him so far, so it's unclear exactly how much resistance he might have.

Certainly Ariara would probably shrug off these attacks. The Judge seemed to believe that he wouldn't be able to easily kill the Ariara with his magic (needed the General to use the golden sword) despite her being down and the Judge apparently having effectively infinite magic (due to drawing from the allegedly-limitless power of the Mage King).

But, what's Burk? Is his Burkiness truly unique, or does it have parallels in the heroes of Heroland?

And what're heroes? Are they wielding powers from a dungeon run, like in Tobi's storyline?

And if so, how? Is Burk's world within a video game, like Tobi's apparently was? Is Burk cheating the rules, like Tobi's grandfather did?

Or, is life itself a series of video games nested within each other? And, perhaps like how a virtual machine can seek native performance via virtual-mapping features, and then use those mappings to escape their virtual environment, can video game powers from a more nested reality be somehow exploited out into a parent reality?

Is it, in fact, possible that this entire comment was written by a monkey on a typewriter?!

WHO KNOWS?!

Burk might be an experienced player re-playing an RPG after mastering all the moves. Set a challenge for themselves to beat the game without training/using magic at all.

16233: Saiko - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 1:43 PM

Please put your pants on, young man!

16234: Blorgahorg - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 5:19 PM

DIPLOMATIC WEAPON 27- VERY LOUD VOICE.

16235: Guest - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 5:36 PM

Wherever Burk's pants ended up, they can now be assumed to be on fire. Ergo, Burk is lying.

16236: Cluedrew - Wednesday, February 21 2018 - 6:47 PM

Burk was about to win, but Pablo interrupted. I believe Mynomedeplume owes me four bets from page 1089.

Unless Pablo's interruption does not end the duel, which considering who is involved is not impossible.

16237: anonymous coward - Thursday, February 22 2018 - 1:10 AM

@Mynomedeplume
What did the small-print on my bet say for this, did I just lose because she didn't win, or do I get a refund because the fight ended inconclusively?

16238: Mynomedeplume - Thursday, February 22 2018 - 6:38 AM

Well, it looks like Cluedrew wins unless we have a surprise on tomorrow's page...

16239: Sandman366 - Thursday, February 22 2018 - 8:52 AM

You exist, therefore you are within Burk's range.

16240: Harosata - Thursday, February 22 2018 - 10:08 AM

Piper: He started it!

Burk: Yes I did!

Pablo: ...As much as that sounds feasible, I know one of you inherited the Judge's power of flames.

Piper: Uh...

16241: Agent Cook - Thursday, February 22 2018 - 12:07 PM

"soon", huh?

16242: LordCortist - Thursday, February 22 2018 - 9:31 PM

Pablo, dodge away that flame attack!
