The Emperor's desires.

Oh okay!

19054: Fuz - Wednesday, January 23 2019 - 2:49 AM

He's the guy they're looking for.

19055: Bailoroc - Wednesday, January 23 2019 - 3:29 AM

Whoa. I'm not used to seeing law enforcement being protrayed as reasonable and pragmatic in fiction. I'm going to have to sit down and process this one.

19056: Bisected - Wednesday, January 23 2019 - 4:22 AM

Good job loudly identifying them!

19057: Jack - Wednesday, January 23 2019 - 4:41 AM

Did they not mention they should be subtle? You don't just openly talk to undercover agents about how they're on a mission from the government. It's unlikely the enemy will hear (unless the paint allows for that) but still.

19058: Saiko - Wednesday, January 23 2019 - 4:41 AM

He should shout louder, there's still a slim chance that the rebels haven't heard about this mission yet.

19059: MatthewTheLucky - Wednesday, January 23 2019 - 5:39 AM

@Bailoroc

Don't worry, it's probably a trap.

19060: Ninlay - Wednesday, January 23 2019 - 5:58 AM

Officer Nigel Thornberry :>

19061: Ryuji - Wednesday, January 23 2019 - 6:10 AM

Hello, fellow PHANTOM THIEVES, how ya doing?

19062: someone - Wednesday, January 23 2019 - 6:36 AM

That mustache looks extremely fake.

It's just the "police" "officer" looks much too young to have grown such a bushy mustache naturally.

19063: steve - Wednesday, January 23 2019 - 9:40 AM

Creepy smile and a mustache he must be evil

19065: Leo - Wednesday, January 23 2019 - 6:54 PM

"And if you can't hear us, we'll yell a little louder!"

19066: Guest - Wednesday, January 23 2019 - 11:42 PM

I am not comfortable with this policeman. He seems disturbingly comfortable with having evil dispensers of vile magic loose in the city. You just can't trust magic-wielders. Back in my day we'd just shoot them as soon as they made their appearance and everyone was the better for it! What happened to the idea that police would protect the citizens?

19068: Brilliand - Thursday, January 24 2019 - 4:09 AM

Yeah, letting anyone in the target town know the kids are coming seems like a security risk. Element of surprise: Gone!

19069: Straightbackward - Thursday, January 24 2019 - 5:13 AM

Ohhh, so... this is bad, I think. The whole police knows about them, as if they were completely trustworthy, furthermore, everyone working in any of the empire's pillars would outwardly agree with The Empire's Manifesto and thus Proyect Veda.

These groups are just sitting ducks now in a mist that mayhaps not only blocks their senses but serves other purposes, I believe they need some planning ahead. Malhart&kids enjoy their home advantage.

(I feel rather stupid now for not having thought before the paintings serve a real purpose.)

There's magic everywhere on the walls of every place here, there's bound to be some weird things going on sometimes. People both with green hairs
Itmug might make people more OK with magic
So this cop might be playing them

19071: Klaus - Thursday, January 24 2019 - 8:07 AM

Subscribing to the "he is an opponent" theory.

And I still think, that "What comes next? 1,2, [ ]" should allow 4 in addition to three, not 5. 1,2,3 makes sense (x(i+1)=x(i)+1), 1,2,4 makes sense (x(i+1)=x(i)*2), but for 5 I can't come up with a similarly simple rule.

19072: MatthewTheLucky - Thursday, January 24 2019 - 9:52 AM

@Klaus No, no, four is right out.

19073: Comrade - Thursday, January 24 2019 - 10:02 AM

@Klaus

How about a(n) = n^2 + 1
a(0) = 1
a(1) = 2
a(2) = 5

Here is the only encyclopedia of integer sequences with 7118 different 1,2,5, patterns:

19074: Straightbackward - Thursday, January 24 2019 - 12:58 PM

@Klaus It is not my intention to invalidate your argument, 4 is a pretty natural and straightforward continuation to 1,2,... But:

For a x(2)=5, One could go for:
x(0)=1; x(i+1)=2*x(i)+(i-1)
Or even:
x(0)=1; x(i+1)=3*x(i)-1

Those are rather 'simple' solutions as in they use just addition, substraction and multiplication, the last one does not even use 'i' beyond accessing the previous element of the sucession.

19075: someone - Thursday, January 24 2019 - 4:35 PM

@Klaus: it's a Monty Python reference. Their character of King Arthur repeatedly counts "1, 2, 5", causing Sir Bedevere to interject and correct him.
