I'M THE GOLDMAN

Nice to meet you.

22879: Lord Incaros - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 12:36 AM

And again, this is why Burk is the natural enemy/predator to Goldman. Goldman seems built to fight against other magic users. A strong enough non-magic user will steamroll him. And this world HAS powerful non-magic users. Both who work for rivals of Heroland. Justopia's royal guards, and I THINK the paladins and dolls of the World Order. If Heroland went to war with either and Goldman had to go up against one, he'd be steamrolled in a minute.

22880: Jack - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 12:38 AM

Gold is also very soft.

22881: K - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 12:39 AM

Fuck yeah, Burk.

22882: James brokanon - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 12:40 AM

Boom called it, one punch man style, hes out for the count

22883: K - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 12:41 AM

Did Burk just kill him?

22884: Lord Incaros - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 12:52 AM

Also, people keep claiming Burk is "immune" to magic. I...don't think this is the case. Neither are the royal guards. They aren't "mage slayers" they fight "on par" with magic users, so they aren't immune. Otherwise Justopia wouldn't need to train magical warriors of their own. We've seen burk DODGE magical attacks, but never tank one. And we have seen him affected, even if indirectly. What's more he still avoided fighting that Midas touch guy, likely due to his power. As for why his punches go through magic shields? Well they are strong punches. And I theorize that most magic users spec their shields/armor to defend against magic. If a physical attack is stronger then a normal fighter without magic boosting it, it'll probably cut through a lot of shields like butter. Or a heavy mallet.

22885: zet - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 1:02 AM

ehehehe - and the heros in the background watching

22886: Deliverance - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 1:12 AM

"You can't hurt me, I've got magic armgggghhhh"

22887: Tor - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 2:04 AM

Nice Discworld reference :D

And yeah Goldman is to dumb to win.
Burk has already shown he does not rely on spirit.

And he is then trusting in a shield he himself explains is specialised to handle magical attacks.

It is really clear Silverman is the brain of the outfit.

22888: Straightbackward - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 2:25 AM

@Lord Incaros Burk has definitely tanked big hits, most noticeable (that I remember) is the Iron Judge's Mazatello. Though I agree, Burk is Goldman's counter. Goldman solely relies on spirit (and wurm's wurms?) for either offense or defense

From what I gather about the Justopean Royal Guards is that their embroidery includes gold, the masks in particular, to block magic, much like Mage Baron's General's sword. That was in-comic IIRC.

There's something about how golden bullets won't harm Brurk, and Goldman's claims of him being, like gold, the bane of magic.

22890: A Loquacious Theorizer - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 3:11 AM

Finally, Burk explained something that should be impossible by reminding the audience that they are Burk.
Can’t have a good fight scene without name dropping.

22891: Chris E. - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 3:51 AM

I'm surprised Goldman didn't try another Golden Wall. Though maybe Burk actually could just pass through that too without any effect, like (it seems) with the bullets.

22892: Some guy - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 4:18 AM

@Jack
And apparently stupid enough to just stand there and let itself get punched.

@A Loquacous Theorizer
Not impossible. He just used a completely different route of attack than Goldman expected, namely a regular punch to the face.

Looks like Goldyboy can't even concieve of the idea of somebody not using spirit to attack him.

I also stand by my idea of Burk being a spiritual Null.

22893: Z2 - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 4:55 AM

It's basically like sending a man made of kryptonite to kill batman.

22894: Sibilla - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 4:58 AM

This has ballad of Edgardo energy

22895: Pheristroch - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 5:11 AM

Ooh...

"Crunch"

Never a good sound in a fight

Right up there with "Snap", "Crackle", and "Pop"

22896: Lord Incaros - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 5:14 AM

@CHris E.
That or Burk moved so fast that Goldman didn't realize what was happening and when he wakes up (if he wakes up) he'll still think he is in the fight. Seriously. I doubt any of the audience is going to know what happenend until Goldman hits the ground.

22898: Cluedrew - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 5:45 AM

"The [Burk] should be so awesome everyone else needs magic to keep up." And Goldman doesn't have enough magic.

I could believe several of the explanations that have been suggested for Burk's extreme power, but I'm hoping whatever the reason is it roughly boils down to: Burk is just very good a this.

@Z2: Did you mean Superman?

22899: Hapiel - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 5:49 AM

Burk is lefthanded? :o

22900: Fuz - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 6:01 AM

This is so satisfying.

22901: TGWMoC - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 6:10 AM

Why is no one talking about the extra shadow, that looks like someone is dropping down from above the ring?

22902: Bogg - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 6:16 AM

*Content sigh*

22903: Nitpicker - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 6:28 AM

I dont wanna be that guy but its bugging me, Burk is punching Goldman in the face but the way his body looks makes it seem as though he was punched in the stomach, thus my new theory is Burk isnt actually good at punches, but has an invisible fist lower than his regular one that is actually the true powerhouse.

22904: Lurker - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 6:54 AM

TGWMoC: That "was" Goldman's spirit minion.

22905: Stefan - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 7:12 AM

@TGWMoC: the shadow is from the Goldman clone, which is disappearing.

22906: Bisected - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 7:20 AM

Not a grain of magic. =3

22907: Stefan - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 7:37 AM

@TGWMoC: the shadow is from the Goldman clone, which is disappearing.

22908: Sean - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 8:07 AM

So it looks like Goldman's best abilities only work on those using spirit/magic?

For most actually dangerous criminals, this would work wonders. He no-sells their attacks and does huge damage to them. And then most of those who lack magic/spirit likely are too weak to keep up with any simply spirit enhanced attack from him. But for someone who's actually very strong without magic (like Burk or the Royal Guard) he'll find himself wrecked because I'm guessing his skill outside of his almost instant-win against other mages are low. Or at least that is what I'm guessing.

22909: someone - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 8:12 AM

fists are not made out of magic, goldman.

22910: AnonymousPerson - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 8:27 AM

@Cluedrew No, they meant Batman. And therein lies Goldyboy's problem.

22911: Sporf - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 8:31 AM

@lord Incaros I definitely don't think Burk or the Royal guard are immune to magic.(Other than Burk's apparent immunity to Goldman's powers, but I think your explanation works pretty well there) The Royal Guard very clearly rely on speed to act before a magic user can react. They do explain why Justopia is looking into magic soldiers pretty clearly though. It takes training from birth to create Royal Guardsman which makes them extremely high cost and difficult to replace whereas magic soldiers are practically a dime a dozen, though the Empire could stand to actually train them if they really want their money's worth. We've seen Burke tank a few hits and we've also seen him have to hide from magic users he simply couldn't fight, namely the to Livarian dudes that interrupted his fight with the Pirate of the Storm. Burk has virtually no defense against Pink Lips power without spirit and even Burk couldn't face his Golem in a flesh suit buddy.

22912: -skimmer- - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 8:35 AM

not the face!

22913: Sporf - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 8:42 AM

@Z2 There was a villain made if Kryptonite called Kryptonite man I believe, from the Silver Age. And yeah, he probably wouldn't do to well against Batman.
@Cluedrew I think he does mean Batman. He's saying that Goldman's super specialized to fight other magic users. All his techniques exploit their weaknesses, and none of those are weaknesses Burk has. Hence Kryptoniteman vs Batman.

22914: Idol - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 9:01 AM

Really dont think Goldman is a free magic user. I think he’s using attacks that can be avoided if you mask/have no spirit, and just forming walls with spirit. The teleport thing is tough to explain but maybe that’s one of the powers the teacher guy didn’t show

Burk wouldn’t be immune to ray beam attacks for example (like wha Alex or the Judge can use)

22915: Fan - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 11:09 AM

Nobody?

Okay then...

I am the Goldman, that's what I am
I am the Goldman, I got the master plan!

22916: Keinname - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 11:27 AM

Get Burk'd !

22917: Keinname - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 1:53 PM

Get Burk'd !

22918: Dr. Doom - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 2:34 PM

@hapiel: fighters with any kind of training don't favor their "dominant" hand. They try to get both of them equally 'natural'.

Otherwise it's a hell of a crutch.

22919: mikato1 - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 10:04 PM

Oh you're immune to magic, are you? That's nice, I CAST *FIST!*

22920: rainer kannenstine - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 10:44 PM

Good punch! I am looking forward to seeing the heroes watching react, I feel like burk letting people know he was immune to those attacks might have been a mistake... VERY curious on how the sky stroke hero is going to react!

22921: Luminous Lead - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 11:15 PM

The debut of One Crunch Man.

22922: Kobrag - Sunday, July 26 2020 - 11:21 PM

The gforces from that...oof

Yay.. Bloooood >:3

22937: Cluedrew - Monday, July 27 2020 - 4:40 AM

@Z2, AnonymousPerson and Sporf: That makes sense, I thought Burk was the Kryptonite in this metaphor.

@Dr. Doom: I know some who don't do that because your forward and back hands can server very different roles. I don't actually know which approach Burk takes though.

22942: UnknownID - Monday, July 27 2020 - 10:24 AM

Just a punch in your face. Nothing magical about this :D

22964: Sandman366 - Tuesday, July 28 2020 - 9:21 PM

Burk, summarized in one panel.

Fantabulous.

22991: Stefan - Friday, July 31 2020 - 12:42 AM
