I mean, it's not that hard to figure out based on available evidence. Burk relies on pure physical ability, and he's seemingly immune to spirit attacks. So a guy like goldman — who calculates his chances of success by reading his opponent's spirit for powers — ends up severely underestimating him.

The secret is really simple: when Goldman challenged Burk, Burk was still operating under Pablo's rule of no fighting. What's your likelihood of defeat against someone who doesn't fight, only dodge?
Then when Pablo arrived and granted Burk an exception for this fight, Goldman did not think to use his power again to reevaluate his chances of success. If he had, he'd probably see Burk suddenly had a 100% chance of victory.

What we know so far about the mask spirit technique is that the user mustn't want to be there to trigger it. Burk tries to have a good fight whenever he can, which is certainly the opposite of that condition.
