Shahlia noted that what she experienced is likely not a black crystal hallucination. You are right in that the bottom floors are the most dangerous, but I feel that might not be what's responsible here.
Though, the note only says about "noticeable effects" and doesn't say what exactly those effects are from. Everyone's just been kind of assuming it's for effects of black crystal poisoning, but for all we know it was for something else entirely.

Maybe it’s the intensity and frequency of Omens they need to worry about?
Or, more concerningly, if Lord Infinite became a ghoul in hours instead of decades, how do we know that the other two requirements- the host being a magic user and being *dead*- still apply in this place?

You know, "Spirit Dashing" sounds like a faster, cooler version of spirit walking, which made me think astral projection at first.
