You piece of sh*t.

Typical, that's why you never take your eyes off of Levin.

I'm sure this is to protect them.

38826: Gils - Sunday, October 8 2023 - 4:32 PM

I stand corrected

38827: Dave the Not Nightmare - Sunday, October 8 2023 - 4:58 PM

I’d say I’m surprised but I can’t lie. So who wants to bet the only way to open that trapdoor is to turn on the machine?

38828: Baprr - Sunday, October 8 2023 - 5:35 PM

Well. He's done it again. Shouldn't have taken your eyes off him when he said he didn't read the entire plaque.

38829: Melany - Sunday, October 8 2023 - 5:52 PM

I stand corrected.

So unless he is planning on flooding the room with gas or something the next page, the idea of being able to murder players on the floor corresponding to their colour is probably false; otherwise he'd just end them. Trapping two of the most dangerous players in a room is a good way to get them out of the way without triggering penalties though.

Though they might not be as trapped as it seems. Minxrey could easily cut through whatever the penalty game room was made out of, and paladin cells seem pretty strong. On the other hand, that is one chonky gate.

This new page updated awfully late. I hope you're not feeling unwell again, that would suck!

Also typical Levin behavior, no surprise there.

38831: Lurker - Sunday, October 8 2023 - 9:03 PM

Chekhov's gate has been deployed.

38832: Gorzag - Sunday, October 8 2023 - 11:43 PM

Surely that puny metallic door won't stop Shahlia? I mean we saw her crush a chainsaw with little effort already.

38837: Fuz - Monday, October 9 2023 - 7:00 AM

This is a dumb outcome.

My suspension of disbelief can't accept them being this dumb again with Levin. Sorry, dumbest development in all the 3000+ pages.

38852: Pluriversal - Monday, October 9 2023 - 8:51 PM

Fuz, are you Fan's relative?

This outcome is perfectly acceptable. People can lose their attention for a second under such circumstances and that's how good "villains" work, taking advantage of that fraction of time.

This is a comic book where nightmares get materialized, heroes share their world with mages and fantastical creature, Burk almost breaks any logical rule that the characters are so far aware of (well, the fact that he's an esper is the beginning of an explanation for why he is so "superior" than his adversaries, still...) and you are bothered because people focused their attention for a single quick moment on a crucial matter that is some how life threatening and still 7 million worth, when they didn't realize that the floor is an allowance for them to be attacked by other players? You are really coming with the card of your suspension of disbelief?

I love how young people use the argument of their "suspension of disbelief" to criticize anything that they weren't expecting or that they would do different if they were the author. It is the worst argument possible and the most used. It is silly for two reasons: First because everyone that evokes it thinks they are smart for knowing what "Suspension of disbelief" means.
Second because no one cares about your suspension of disbelief. It is a personal thing, when dealing with any fiction and only matters to a public when the "impossible" bothers a lot of people such as a betrayal from the author, which is clearly not the case.

Sorry, but this is far dumber than the outcome presented.

From my part, I love how "realistic human" are Neorice's characters, despite how fantastical and magical is the world they live in.

@Pluriversal

I'm approving your comment as 95% of it is actually fine, but please try refraining from implying other posters are dumb or anything that verges on personal insults.

It's basically one of the only things I disallow in the comments, as I want to avoid conversation getting a nasty/hostile tone. Thank you.

38873: Fuz - Tuesday, October 10 2023 - 2:07 PM

@Pluriversal: No idea who Fan is, but no - it's not acceptable.

Not in this game with these rules, not with a well-known Levin, not with these two extremely competent girls.

This is just beyond my suspension of disbelief.

38877: Pluriversal - Tuesday, October 10 2023 - 6:10 PM

I apologize for the 5%. I meant no attack, only a criticism to the general argument of suspension of disbelief and how it is used nowadays.

@Fuz
Well, it's human nature. No matter how competent you are you can get distracted, Shalhia was with the vessel and the information, Jay-Jay with the possibility of earning 7 million and getting close to escaping - aside that we don't really know her. Sounds perfectly reasonable. There are many "slipperies" in human history, many mistakes that were made by competent people even in dire situations.

But it's your suspension of disbelief and you decide what makes sense or not for you, so, let's agree to disagree.
