Again, I gotta respect Valiant. It could've been easy for him to drag Held into his own ambitions, or to take the easy way out and just break her heart to make her stop pursuing him, but instead he's legit going with the alternative of respecting her agency and telling her that it's better if she waits a few years and then making up her mind on her own if she was just being young and silly or if she's adamant about what she said back when she was but a kid.

The cynic in me is considering that with how good Valiant is and the fact he's not the main character, something real bad is bound to happen to him before or not long after he joins Vallance. I hope I'm wrong or that it isn't so bad as to remove him from the plot.
