@Whispers of Sorrow. Burk never claimed he wanted to talk when he went in. He just went in and started to talk. Wasn't expecting him to sucker punch though, but then she likely to be incredibly pissed and not paying attention even though he did announce his purpose as a distraction.

Here we see no reasonable chance for success without attacking, and little enough chance for a good result unless we attack.
