I think at this point Ariara would willingly allow the Judge to use his powers, especially since she can easily take them back after he saves her (and the Judge would accept that arrangement because Burk may be able to beat Ariara afterward). My guess is the "Heavenly Judgement" attack messed up the Judge's connection to the amulet.

Alternatively, if you noticed earlier, its' defense effect was already popped by Ariara. There is every chance that that fulfilled the basic role of burning out the energy stored in the amulet.
