One big mistake.

Oh well.

13217: 5 - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 1:22 AM

Blondie finally made a statue with another facial expression, and it won't last. Sad.
Why did his magic turn all of Ariara's clothes into gold, but not the gem on her crown ? The fact the crown was made of gold protected the gem ?

13218: Darius Drake - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 1:23 AM

As I said a few pages ago, she can be killed now. Also, now, I believe that Burk already knows that that isn't the real amulet, but a trinket with a ruby or something in it.

13219: Neoriceisgood - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 1:28 AM

@5

Correct.

13220: Jack - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 1:39 AM

So judging by the dialog his Midas touch can wear off? Interesting, so if he gets defeated everyone will be fine. He also suggests that it can be resisted to some degree. This indicates that either the Mage Baron lacks spirit magic, or they have a time limit on their hands. Furthermore, the Midas touch seems to come from his shoes meaning it may be easier to avoid than previously thought.

13221: Scarred Wrable - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 1:44 AM

Aha so her spirit powers protect her from the Insta kill nice
Also that was a satisfactory ending to that fight that managed not to feel like the worf effect , good job Neorice

Now here comes perhaps the return of moe the shifter the Iron judge or perhaps even the Aristocrat
Oh man I am hyped

13222: Bisected - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 2:51 AM

Hmm, so his power isn't permanent all the time, at least.

13223: Tom - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 2:58 AM

She turned to gold just by CRASHING against him? That means that Burk can't just punch him (at least without gloves).

@Neo - Does this mean that Ariara isn't perma-golded because of her magic?

@5 - Nice attention to detail!

13224: Saiko - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 3:14 AM

Someone should melt and recast this golden statue. Preferably into a delicious stack of ingots, with ruby on top.

13225: 0Anesthetic4u - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 3:27 AM

Callllled it.

13226: Scarred Wrable - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 3:36 AM

ah feck indeed

13227: Silver - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 4:20 AM

@Saiko If you're really into flesh ingots, I guess that's a good idea...

I guess spirit magic protects from Midas Touch instakill. This probably means that the Baron is like the judge, without spirit magic of his own.

13228: Alcemon - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 6:15 AM

Someone made a comment a couple of pages back about the fact that they were not instantly "golding" Ariara because they did not want to gold the amulet too.

That person was SO right about that

13229: Janeator - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 6:34 AM

That was one long update!

13230: Nathan400 - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 9:29 AM

I'm guessing that the stone guy'said power works off his opponent's magic. That's why he said Aria F'ed up, she hit him with serious overkill at the start leaving him nice and charged up for the fight. I'm also guessing that's what the red is when he's wounded

13231: MiniMage - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 10:18 AM

Didn't you say earlier in the series that the reason they wanted this amulet was because they couldn't use it if the original user died? So if they kill the Iron Judge, wont that make them unable to use the amulet?

13232: Neoriceisgood - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 10:27 AM

@Minimage

If they turn someone to gold (kill them) whilst they're holding the amulet, they destroy the amulet as well.

I don't believe I've ever directly stated that killing the Judge would make the Amulet stop working.

13233: Doomy - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 10:29 AM

What if they just smash her golden form to pieces right now?

13234: Silver - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 11:59 AM

@Neoriceisgood

But Ariara survived, didn't she? That means she's going to turn back to normal, right? Does what you said mean that her possessions (the amulet) would not turn back to normal? So when she reverts, she'll be trapped in gold clothes?

13235: Luminous Lead - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 12:35 PM

Ariara can control metal, right? She's now pretty complete MADE of metal. I wonder if she can spirit-ambulate or whether she needs to thaw out first. Also, a radical gamble, hiding the amulet in her crown!

13236: Leo - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 2:53 PM

@Silver
Ludvig is NOT going to turn back to normal. He has no spirit abilities. Ariara IS going to turn back. They could wait there and then steal the amulet after she 'thaws' but that would leave them open to attack by anyone.

13237: Wesley - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 3:00 PM

The amulets fake, im excited for some burk on rock guy action!

13238: pkrcel - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 3:27 PM

What is that Blondie is making in panel 9?

A somersault defense or it just got Ariara full-force on the face?

I'm asking cause I see he's lying on that case in the next panel.

13239: Tor - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 4:50 PM

So does that mean the Midas Touch is permanent on anyone without spirit magic? Or just lasting months instead of hours?

13240: Whispers of Sorrow - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 5:10 PM

Nooooooo, not Ariara! :(

I believe it is gingerbeard who has made the mistake, as he appears to have demonstrated a method by which he could be vanquished.

Ariara on the other hand, simply had the misfortune to be fighting her third heavy hitter of the day, who happened to have an unknown power (and thus plenty of rabbits to pull from his hat).

13241: David Argall - Sunday, July 9 2017 - 11:44 PM

And this may be last we see of Burk until Fall. The current chapter is on the long side and we are at a natural break point, and we look to face another long fight here.
