Blue.1 placed outside of ward

38401: Melany - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 6:59 AM

Hokey dokey, let's see if I can remember what colours go to whom!

Blue.1: Jay-Jay. The other note mentions that Blue.1 is placed outside ward, but Shahlia was in the ward. So it has to be Jay-Jay
Blue.2: Shahlia. She joined at last minute, so she'd be second technically... makes sense.

Brown: Housten aka Cop
Grey: Three
Green: Erza Glint aka GO scientist
Red: Tobi
Tan: Bindy
Orange: Infinite
Opaque: Smile player, presumably?
Yellow: Jay, aka gang boy
Purple: Levin
White: Fox
Pink: Maria, she's the only one left.

So let's see...

Maria, Housten, Shahlia, Three, Erza, Tobi, Bindy and Infinite are vetted.
Smile player, Jay-Jay, Jay, Levin and Foxy aren't vetted.

Tobi shifted with Erza
Foxy shifted with Shahlia
Levin and Housten shifted
Smile player and Bindy shifted

Jay-Jay placed outside ward. Again, has to be her, Shahlia was in the ward.

I don't remember all the player's colours, but that sounds like the Infiniminion Binky isn't vetted (as she was opaque before the colour's were swapped) and nor was the Paladin.

Wait, if the wards and colours were shifted, were the roles and ward related clues shifted alongside them? Or were such things thrown off?

What I mean to say is, were all the players from Tobi's ward really cleaners after this shifting? And is Three's clue about a player knowing the nature of the experiment based on it's location really about a player from Mr Green's ward?

38403: Mallory - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 7:23 AM

Paladin was white and not vetted, if I understand correctly?

And she was shifted into blue2, which explains her concern when blue.1 said they were blue // smile saying they had to replace a contestant with her.

Were the non-vetted murdered, or not guaranteed to produce proper results, or..?

38404: Detective Caillou - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 7:24 AM

Hmm, well, we know Red and Green were both vetted, so this was probably done to prevent the mole (among the employees) from being able to reliably do anything with their intelligence. Given it makes the most sense for Tobi to be Red, this probably just refers to their physical positions being shifted, rather than their codenames...

So basically, the suspects for one playing in bad faith are: Smile-Mask (IIRC he's Opaque), the Red-Blue highlights gangster lady (Blue.1, if 'placed outside ward' means what I think it did), Mr. Yellow, Purple (I forget, was that Roxy or the shady secretary?), and... Levin.

Personally, I think Yellow is the most suspicious at this point... but watch it turn out to be Roxy. Ultimately, I'm guessing it will come down to a case of finding something that contradicts one of their stated motives.

38405: Mallory - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 7:35 AM

The experiment seems to be tied specifically to injury, based on Shalia’s observation, and the hosts specific wording when Tobi survived the betrayal unharmed.

38406: Tom - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 12:47 AM

I feel like I should know what this refers to. It's been so long since we've been in Tobi's story.

@almondsAndRain - Bless you.

38407: player_03 - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 9:31 AM

Compromised employee? I wonder if that's the "host" and they got put in the game as punishment.

Supposedly the host knows all the rules, but the vault rewards, player colors, and quiz questions aren't technically rules. Like how knowing the rules to a social deduction game (Town of Salem, Werewolf, etc.) doesn't mean you know who's who.

38408: player_03 - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 9:41 AM

"blue.1 placed outside of ward" isn't actually a bullet point, meaning it wasn't a precaution of any kind, it just happened to fit on the same sheet of paper. Not surprising; we already know why Jay-Jay got displaced.

Interesting how Shalhia was "vetted" but Jay-Jay wasn't, despite the former showing up at the last minute. But maybe it's easy to "vet" people from the Global Order, what with them being orderly.

38409: TaranAlvein - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 9:50 AM

It's kind of making me think of the note you find in Your Turn to Die. There's valuable information to be extracted from this note, for those who want to play detective with it.

38410: player_03 - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 9:56 AM

Could the color shifts could explain some of the inconsistencies we've seen?

Like pages 2599-2600, where the tan door is marked with a skull despite Bindy still being alive. But if Bindy and the dummy player got swapped, then the "nondescript" door (opaque, presumably) should still be usable.

Nope, that doesn't help. Their answer at the time still makes more sense: the color of your animal is the color of your door.

I bet the "vault rewards shifted" bit explains why the presents in each vault (page 1400+) don't match the vault colors. Even then, those rewards barely seem to have mattered, other than giving Houston a gun and Tobi a pencil. Would it really have mattered if some random employee knew that? (Keeping in mind that the employee likely isn't Houston's target.)

38411: Strannik - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 10:47 AM

pink : ?
brown : Officer Houston
blue.2 : the paladin
grey : Three
green : Ezra Glint
red : tobi
tan : ?
orange : Infinite

opaque : smile costume guy
blue 1. Jay-Jay
yellow : yellow
purple : Levin
white : Fox

How could have they vet Grey and Tobi, by the way ? She literally comes from another world.
So I surmise that "vetting player" here mean that they could be sure thta no player could have hint or means of cheating.

It introduces to the possibility of colors wrongly

I wonder is the compromised employee was the player with the smile mask.
After all, when it was said that one of the player was the host, it could have mean that one of the person of the smile organisation was there, not the head of operation.

Also, the fact that one of the employee was compromised means there's a compromiser... probably somone who bought some information. Levin would be a good suspect for that. He was surprisingly knowledgeable in the quiz. Though the quiz questions were altered.

almondsAndRain: Sorry, it looks like line breaks (besides double line breaks) are broken in comments with the new version of the site. Sorry about that! Will try to fix soon.

38413: Charter - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 10:53 AM

Why are these documents even in the chest I wonder?
Feels like an internal memo, not exactly the sort of thing that should be left in the game itself.

38414: player_03 - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 11:26 AM

@Strannik It would make sense for "vetted" to mean "confirmed not cheating." In that case, one of the five "not vetted" players is probably the one who entered under false pretenses.

I'd thought they already knew who it was, but let them play just because they were toying with their prey. But what if they don't know? What if they've only narrowed it down to five?

Alternatively, maybe Smile was the employee and/or entered under false pretenses. When the foundation found out, they assigned the dummy role as punishment. In which case those mysteries may never get a proper resolution.

Hopefully not, I like being able to solve mysteries.

I'm also willing to rule Jay-Jay out based on her answers on pages 1240 and 1241. She claimed to know nothing about the game's host, and not fully know why she's there. And she didn't explode, so neither of those were verifiable lies. This leaves Jay, Levin, and Fox as living maybe-culprits.

38415: Melany - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 12:22 PM

@Charter

Three possibilities.

One: This memo is actually entirely fabricated, specifically designed as a hint to the players, it's tone intended to make the information more (less?) believable.

Two: Somebody threw it in at the last minute because they couldn't think of a better chest reward, thinking it'll be useful/funny.

Three: Existence of one compromised employee raises the possibility of others they missed. Somebody might be trying to sabotage the game in some form.

38416: Melany - Sunday, August 20 2023 - 1:22 PM

@player_03

Hmm so on one hand, it's logical that SF doesn't know who the false pretense player is exactly, because otherwise it wouldn't make sense for them to make a bounty on them like that.
But on the other hand, Smile asked "Who is the player who joined under false pretenses?" during the trivia round. If they didn't know who this player is, how would they deal with the possibility of somebody just trying to guess? How would they be able to continue the game if they didn't even know the answer? It certainly implies they do know.

That said, if we do run with the idea that they don't know who that player is, it raises an interesting possibility about Jay-Jay and lying under the trial stand. If a player states a VERIFIABLE lie on trial, they are terminated... but if SF doesn't know about some player's true motivations... then those wouldn't be verifiable lies, would they?
